[07 Mar] Athena Games Store Championship - Norwich
It's on March 7th. It will likely be one of if not the last store championship. So come along and get that last minute swag.
It's only a short walk from the train station. Or I'll come and pick you up from it.
On a side note I'd love to arrange something after. Food/drinks would make for a much better day out.

Would be awesome to get Wamma on this. Athena will have a pretty cool setup and there's nowhere near enough commentated thrones streams.

As it is more and more likely that I will not be in Madrid, it is more and more likely that I'd love to go to this tournament .
Any Londoners on the line?
I should also add that I'm totally up for a meal/beer after the competition .

We start at 11:00. We can come and pick people up from the station and walk back with them if it would help. Albeit it's quite a walk now! I could swing by and pick four people up or do a couple of trips.

Re: [07 Mar] Athena Games Store Championship - Norwich
Hi guys!
Thanks you for this great moment . It was cool to see you all . I'll let someone that remembers better than me post the final standings of this tournament. But I can already say that Bambi won .
I'll try to do a quick report . I left London with Marco at about 8:00 in the morning, after a brief stop in Cambridge to catch a new train and to see how the city had changed since the last time I went there, we arrived at Norwich's station, where Ian was waiting for us. A quick walk out of the Station corner and through the city center convinced me that this city, apart from having some of the coolest thrones players ever, is really nice. The kind of place you'd want to live in.
We finally arriver at Athena Games, I must say this shop, is the biggest shop I've seen. Three big floors, a lot of space, it must be amazing to play there .
We finally get to join the other paramours and start the tournament. I'm playing a deck based on a silly idea I had the previous week-end. It will turn out as fun to play, and maybe with some potential, but it's always hard to tell when the meta counts only a dozen players (even if the average level is good).
Round 1 with Ian in Targaryen HttIT (Danny no Mil)
It turned out that Ian's deck has everything to hard counter mine ^^. On top of that, I set-up with 2 cards, and he has a tripled Danny, with Khal and some other things at the end of the first turn of Marshalling :p. I tried the best I could to cope up, but a Fire Made Flesh turn 2 and a To Be turn 3 simply closed the game.
Loss, and a hrash start for the day :p.
Round 2 with Markdrive in Greyjoy NoA
Marco, playing against you is always a pleasure, you play better and better each time, and you always make the games really enjoyable. If I recall correctly I had the best possible set-up, and certainly the best of the week-end . I'll let Mark tell more about this game than me. I'm affraid I don't remember each turn very well sadly... I shouold take notes ^^. Though I remember I won in the end
Win
Round 3 with Mikecobra in Stark Maester
Mike knows my deck, we've been playting together a bit during the week, and he is the one lending me the deck today, he even knows the decklist very well. If I recall correctly before this game we played 2 times, for 1 win each. Mine being on a rule point he didn't know at that time. Which leads me to the psychological state we both are in when we start the game. I believe (tell me if I'm wrong Mike ^^), thaty depsite having lost one MIke's thinks he has the edge and is the favourite of the match-up, while I'm quite confident I can play my deck well enough to get to hold him and win in the end. The start of the game confirms this statement, he takes the lead, manages very well my first tricks, this until turn 6, where my plan finally could take form. I was lucky with that I must say, I drew 2 card that I neede amongst the last 4 I drew before he could win the game. I could then turn the tables, take the board advantage, with still a chain on his agenda. I held him up at 12-13 powers and a chain for 2 turns, and started striking back after that to win the game 2 or 3 turns later (I was starting from 0-1 powers).
Win
Apart from the game content of the game, it was a really great game for me, being able to come back from so far, I was really happy of that. To the contrary I sincerely am sorry for Mike who obviously had to live the contrary. Mike, you are a good player, you started not so long ago and you already manage to get some nice results in tournaments. Don't let this game or week-end get to you. The meta we are in is really a bit special, only a few players, but as James mentionned, anybody is able to create a solid deck and to beat anybody of the paramours, this adding to the fact that there are only a few of us means that on a bad luck day the few decks there are here are all unexpected and solid. I guess the right call after this few tournaments, is that there's no meta to read so to speak ^^.
Round 4 with Bambi in Lannister DWDW
As usual, Bambi and I have our one game of the tournament . I don't really know what to say. I was under the impression I had everything nearly under control, and in the end Jamie Lannister showed there clearly is no men like him . Congrats man .
Thanks again to Athena Games for organising this tournament. Kudos to all the paramours for ending the Frith-Waumsley domination \o/ ! And thanks to everyone for being geat as usual! I'm quite confident we can attract new players if we stay as we are ^^.
Please forgive the mistakes I made writing this, and thank you if you read through all this .
